Jeremiah 6:10
To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? Behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the Lord is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
There is a lot of “meat”before and after this verse, but I want to zoom in right here for a quick thought. I believe with all my heart that our churches are full of people who fit this bill. What a sad testimony that is for the Church of the living God! Jeremiah is literally standing there saying: “who am I going to talk to? Who is going to listen? You have turned away your ears”. There is no doubt that this is true many cases today. No one wants to hear TRUTH anymore! The prophet even goes a bit farther to make it know that even God’s Word had become a reproach…. WOW! How can the: “saved by grace” ever reach such a back slidden state? There are many ways, and I believe we are living in even worse days today than they were back then.
So, I leave you with these thoughts – what does His Word truly mean to you? Do you even regard the Word of God given to you, or do you simply toss it aside once the “service” is over? Has it even become a reproach or something dreadful for you to look at, read, study, or ENDURE on a daily basis? Examine yourself today. Have you become a wicked sheep even as the children of Israel had?
